The International Parliamentarians’ Congress (IPC) Honored with The Status Of “International Observer” By the African Parliamentary Union (APU)

The African Parliamentary Union APU holds its 76th session of the executive committee on 11th–12th October 2021 in Djibouti. During this session, IPC was granted “International observer” status by the Chairperson of the APU Executive Committee African Parliamentary Union and its members. In the 77th Session of the Executive Committee of the APU, held on 10th and 11th March 2022 in Kigali. IPC officially received the “International Observer” credential to be shared formally. The achievement of international observer status from the APU is a great milestone and unique opportunity for the IPC to promote and explore the areas of multilateral interests in the world in general and in the African region in particular. The APU is a continental inter-parliamentary organization, that came into being on the 13th of February 1976, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The major objective of the APU is to bring together the parliamentary institutions from all the African states, in order to shape a multilateral consensus. Moreover, it also aims to interact with the parliaments from all over the world, to strengthen democratic values, global and regional peace and human rights, etc. The IPC has received a commendable reputation in international governance as well, thus it will have tremendous experience to interact with APU in multiple areas of common understanding. The IPC aims to make a mutual collaboration with the APU in the areas like human development, strengthening democracy, global peace, Human Rights, inter-faith harmony, tolerance, gender equality, etc.

THE AMBASSADOR OF THE KINGDOM OF MOROCCO TO PAKISTAN, H.E MR. MOHAMED KARMOUNE VISITED THE INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTARIANS’ CONGRESS (IPC) SECRETARIAT IN ISLAMABAD

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Pakistan, H.E Mr. Mohamed Karmoune, paid an official visit to the International Parliamentarians’ Congress (IPC) Secretariat Islamabad. During his visit, he met with the Secretary-General IPC – Senator. Sitara Ayaz, Advisor to President IPC – Mr. Nouman Khan, and Assistant Secretary-General IPC – Mr. Ijlal Ali Khan. He highly acknowledged the role of IPC in addressing the most pressing issues for humanity and also praises the achievement of IPC. During the meeting, several areas of multilateral interests, such as economic and business engagement, climate change, and trade development were discussed in detail. H.E Mr. Mohamed Karmoune, was very optimistic about working with IPC and supporting the platform in every possible way. He shared that he will work for the penetration of IPC membership and reach out to Parliamentarians of Morocco for IPC membership growth. Both sides also addressed the various prospects and dimensions of strengthening relations in the future.

Meeting with the Senior Representatives Of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at International Parliamentarians’ Congress (IPC) Secretariat

The Senior Representative JICA, Tsuruoka Noriyuki, and Chief Program Manager JICA Dr. Haroon paid a comprehensive visit to the International Parliamentarians’ Congress (IPC) Secretariat in Islamabad, in order to address a variety of bilateral interests with the officials of the IPC. The representatives from JICA met with the Secretary-General of the IPC, Senator Sitara Ayaz, and highly praised the role of IPC, in a number of areas such as human development, collective cooperation, peaceful coexistence, etc. The meeting was organized to discussed several aspects of working development between IPC and JICA. The multiple possibilities were discussed during the meeting including Human development, human security, stable and collective development, and multilateral cooperation that will be further discussed in the follow-up meeting. As a result, both organizations agreed to find opportunities in future.

INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTARIANS’ CONGRESS (IPC) HELD A VIRTUAL MEETING WITH MS. SABRA BANO, DIRECTOR OF GENDER CONCERNS INTERNATIONAL

A virtual meeting was conducted with the Director of Gender Concerns International Ms. Sabra Bano to have an initial interaction with new Secretary-General Senator Sitara Ayaz and to further take the follow-up on areas of working development, discussed in the previous meeting held in the year 2021. Ms. Sabra Bano shared her interest to work on mutual thematic areas such as human rights, gender equality, peace, and security that can be highlighted in the best possible way while working together. Moreover, both sides agreed to continue such interactions in the future over matters of mutual interests.  

The Ambassador of The Republic Of Kazakhstan To The Pakistan, H.E Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin Visited The International Parliamentarians’ Congress (IPC) Secretariat in Islamabad

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan H.E Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, paid an official visit to the International Parliamentarians’ Congress (IPC) Secretariat Islamabad. H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin was given a brief introduction of IPC, its role and achievements acquired so far, which he highly acknowledged and appreciated. Moreover, Secretary General-IPC Senator Sitara Ayaz admired the broad diplomatic and political career of the honourable Ambassador and declared his IPC’ visit, a landmark opportunity for future collaboration with parliamentary cooperation. The Ambassador H.E Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin showed his great acknowledgement and appreciation to the contribution of IPC in the various areas of common interests such as, climate change, human rights, food and health security, sustainable human development, interfaith harmony, trade and developmental cooperation etc. He was very grateful for the continuous support of Chairman Senate Senator Sadiq Sanjrani. He further agreed to continue such fruitful interaction with the IPC in the future and take this meeting to the multiple dimensional cooperation. In the end, a comprehensive visit to IPC Secretariat was given to His Excellency and souvenirs were exchanged between SG IPC and Ambassador H.E Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin. The Republic of Kazakhstan is one of the major countries of Central Asia, having an active role in a number of regional organizations, therefore, such a high-level visit will have immense positive implications in the various areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The President of International Parliamentarians’ Congress (IPC) Appointed Honorable Ms. Sitara Ayaz As The New Secretary General, IPC

Honourable Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has recently been appointed as the Special Assistant on Information in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KPK Government and due to his engagements on the new post, President of IPC, Senator Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani appointed the former Senator Ms. Sitara Ayaz as the new Secretary General IPC. Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif gave valuable services to IPC during his tenure and played a significant role in bringing IPC to this level. IPC highly acknowledges and admires his efforts and contributions and also extends him good wishes with his new responsibilities in the KPK government. Honorable Sitara Ayaz has a wide experience of work in a variety of fields like climate change, environmental issues, and human rights. The addition of Ms. Sitara Ayaz to IPC will have immense positive implications in the future, and IPC is eagerly looking forward to taking benefits from the vast experience of the newly appointed Secretary General Ms. Sitara Ayaz. We warmly welcome her and wish her a wonderful time in the IPC to work as a team and take IPC to a new level of the horizon.

The Speaker of The Council of Representatives of Bahrain Along With Distinguished Parliamentary Delegation Visited International Parliamentarians’ Congress Secretariat Islamabad

The Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Her Excellency, Ms. Fawzia Bint Abdullah Zainal, along with a parliamentary delegation visited the International Parliamentarians’ Congress IPC, Secretariat Islamabad today 19th November 2021. The parliamentary delegation further comprised His Excellency Counselor Rashid bin Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Bounejama Secretary General of the Council of Representatives, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sisi Al-Buainain, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee of Council of Representatives, H. E. Mr. Ammar Ahmed Albannai Chairman of the Standing Select Committee on Human Rights of Council of Representatives, H. E. Syed Falah Hashem Falah, H. E. Mr. Ghazi Faisal Al Rahma Deputy Chairman Standing Select Committee on Human Rights, and H. E. Mr. Mahmood Maki Salman. Honourable Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif Secretary General IPC and Mr. Ijlal Ali Khan Assistant Secretary general IPC warmly welcome the Speaker and her delegation at the IPC Secretariat. Apprising the role of IPC to the Speaker, IPC President also gave her and a delegation a complete visit to IPC secretariat building. While Expressing gratitude for the hospitality rendered to Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation, the Speaker greatly acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of IPC in engaging the world parliamentarians through this platform. Moreover, she highly admired the role of IPC in promoting democratic norms, sustainable peace, cooperation and multilateral interactions among various stakeholders on different forums. Similarly, the representatives from both sides agreed and assured to continue mutual coordination in the future for curbing the traditional and non-traditional issues at the regional and international levels. She conveyed earnest regards to the IPC President for providing such a platform to Parliamentarians for constructive engagement of the international community and wished good luck for its impending endeavours. The IPC and Council of Representatives of the kingdom of Bahrain are two unique institutions of their own nature and their engagement and collaboration on such a high level will greatly help in promoting long-lasting peace, prosperity and cooperation in the future.

MEETING OCCUR BETWEEN THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO PAKISTAN) AND INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTARIAN’S CONGRESS ON THE ISSUE OF ROAD SAFETY

Ms. Dr Maryam Mallick, Technical Advisor Disabilities, Road Safety, And Injury Prevention of World Health Organization Pakistan visited IPC. A fruitful meeting was held between Dr. Maryam Mallick from WHO-Pakistan and Mr. Ijlal Ali Khan IPC to discuss a number of areas of mutual interest including the various aspects of road safety and its implementation. Similarly, both sides addressed the issues of disabilities and its connection with lack of road safety. Moreover, they shared the desire to work on road safety on various levels to make sure maximum coordination and cooperation in the future together. They also assured cooperation to contain disabilities by effective road safety. Road safety is getting immense significance day by day not only nationally but internationally as well, therefore, the collective efforts between the two organizations will have tremendous significance regarding the said topic.

President of Arab Parliament H.E Adel Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi visited International Parliamentarians’ Congress, signed a MOU and a joint Communique

The three-member delegation led by Arab Parliament President H.E Adel Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi is in Islamabad on a five-day official visit at the invitation of the President of International Parliamentarians Congress-IPC and Senate chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani. The other delegation members include H.E Mr. Abdel wahab Moawada from the Republic of Yemen and H.E Saleh Mohamed Awed Naser from the State of Palestine. The delegation visited the IPC secretariate in Islamabad on 2nd August 2021 and was warmly welcomed by the IPC President Senator Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani and Secretary General IPC Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif. The visit was begun by a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Joint Communique between the Arab Parliament and IPC to develop and strengthen parliamentary relations and work in unison with IPC to resolve the global issues the world is facing and to move towards the development of bilateral cooperation. Then, The President of IPC Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani gave a brief introduction of IPC to the delegation, explaining to him the notion of the existence of IPC. The conceptional idea was appreciated by the AP President and he shared that he is delighted to see that such an organization is headquartered in Pakistan and working for the world parliamentarians from here. Moreover, the Secretary General then explained to him the purpose of the IPC along with its aims and objectives. The achievements of IPC that include the accreditation of the international election observation mission to observe the Parliamentary elections of the United Kingdom, Jordan, and the Netherlands were shared with the delegation and the reports. The AP President appreciated the achievement of IPC and wishes IPC good luck to secure more success in future and also commit to supporting us in achieving IPC goals. Later, the current situation of Pakistan and the Arab world including Palestine was also discussed to share the views. On a concluding note, the Secretary General IPC gave souvenirs to the delegations and said that he is very grateful to them for a kind visit to IPC Secretariate and looking forward to productive, profound and mutual cordial relations.
