International Parliamentarians Congress

Islamabad, 3rd July 2025 — The Secretary-General of the International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC), Senator Sitara Ayaz, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad. Senator Sitara Ayaz was accompanied by the Chief Technical Advisor IPC Mr. Naeem Murtaza, Special Advisor IPC on SDGs Mr. Fida Hussain Malik and Manager Communications IPC Ms. Mehk Butt.

The meeting proved to be a highly fruitful exchange of ideas and perspectives. His Excellency the Ambassador delivered a detailed presentation on Turkmenistan’s foreign policy priorities and its significant role in promoting regional cooperation and connectivity. He also emphasized Turkmenistan’s dedication to peacebuilding, particularly in the context of the United Nations declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.

Senator Sitara Ayaz, in turn, shared a comprehensive overview of IPC’s mission, its expanding global footprint, and its commitment to fostering collaboration among parliamentarians for sustainable development and regional integration. She expressed strong interest in deepening ties between IPC and Turkmenistan and affirmed IPC’s willingness to work closely with the Turkmen side in promoting regional peace and prosperity.

During the meeting, a formal letter addressed to the Honorable Speaker of the Parliament of Turkmenistan was also shared. In this letter, IPC formally proposed the idea of jointly organizing an international conference for global parliamentarians in collaboration with the Parliament of Turkmenistan, to be held in Ashgabat.

At the conclusion of the meeting, souvenirs were exchanged between Senator Sitara Ayaz and Ambassador Movlamov, symbolizing mutual goodwill and reaffirming their shared commitment to future cooperation. Both sides expressed keen interest in working together to facilitate meaningful engagement between Turkmen parliamentarians and the global parliamentary community through the IPC platform.
