The International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC) successfully concluded a high-level official visit to Kigali-Rwanda from 30 November to 4 December 2025. The delegation was headed by Senator Sitara Ayaz, Secretary General of IPC, and comprised parliamentarians as well as distinguished representatives from the business community.
During the visit, the delegation held several important engagements aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation, economic ties, and people-to-people linkages between IPC member states and Rwanda.
Key engagements included a solemn visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a meeting with the Senate of Rwanda, and an interaction with the Pakistan High Commission in Kigali, followed by a hosted dinner.
The IPC delegation also met with senior government and institutional officials, including the Investment, Marketing and Facilitation Department of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the CEO of the Rwanda Private Sector Federation, the Executive Director of the Institute of Policy Analysis and Research (IPAR), and the Chairperson of the Rwanda Elders Advisory Forum (REAF).
The visit additionally featured a Kigali City Tour, sectoral briefings, and a site visit, with discussions focused on economic development, infrastructure cooperation, private sector opportunities, and policy research collaboration.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Sitara Ayaz, Secretary-General IPC, stated:
“This visit marks an important step in strengthening IPC’s engagement with Rwanda and the wider African region. Our discussions were constructive and focused on promoting parliamentary cooperation, development partnerships, and avenues for economic and policy collaboration. Rwanda’s remarkable progress in governance and development provides a valuable model for parliamentarians globally.”
She further added:
“We are grateful to the High Commission of Rwanda in Pakistan for their support in planning this visit and for facilitating meaningful interactions with key institutions across the country.”
The IPC looks forward to building on the momentum generated during this visit and continuing its work to connect parliamentarians, foster dialogue, and encourage collaborative efforts for sustainable development.
