International Parliamentarians Congress

Geneva, Switzerland – March 26, 2024 – The International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC) was honored to be invited as an observer to the Third Conference of theNon-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM Parliamentary Network)on ‘Revitalizing Parliamentary Action in Combating Climate Change’, held on March 25, 2024, in Geneva, Switzerland. This significant event took place on the sidelines of the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which convened from March 23-27, 2024.

The Assistant Secretary General IPC, Mr. Ijlal Ali Khan, represented the IPC at both events, the Third Conference of NAM and the IPU 148th Assembly. The IPC’s participation in these prestigious events underscores its commitment to addressing global challenges through parliamentary cooperation and action.

The IPC received observer status from the Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) during the 2nd NAM Conference held in March 2023 in Bahrain. This status has enabled the IPC to actively engage in NAM’s initiatives and collaborate on issues of mutual interest.

During the events in Geneva, the IPC engaged in meaningful discussions with officials from both the IPU and the NAM Secretariat. These interactions provided an opportunity to share the IPC’s current activities and explore future collaborations. The IPC remains dedicated to fostering international partnerships and enhancing the role of parliaments in combating climate change and other critical global issues.

The IPC looks forward to continuing its engagement with the IPU, NAM, and other international bodies to develop effective parliamentary strategies that address the pressing issue of climate change and further promote sustainable development and effective parliamentary action worldwide.
